Is Australia Becoming “Ice” Land?

Is Australia Becoming “Ice” Land?

There is no doubt that one of the most dangerous and addictive drugs ever created is meth, or, as it’s called in Australia, “Ice”. People who try ice only one time can become severely addicted, beginning a downward spiral so tragic, that nothing in the history of drug addiction compares with it.

Ice addiction is out of control and more and more people are desperately searching for ice addiction treatment. Make no mistake, ice addiction is a scourge, a plague upon the populace that is dangerous even to those not using the drug themselves. Families are destroyed by it, communities ravaged by those who are hopelessly addicted and committing crimes to support their habits. Addicts lose all sense of shame and dignity and will do anything to get money for more of the drug. Anything. The euphoria of that first use keeps ice addicts desperately hooked, chasing that first high, although they will never experience it again. But once they realize that, it’s already for too late. The fact is ice is now the primary focus of the Australian Crime Commission. Ice is everywhere in Australia. It is cheap to produce, easy to move and hugely profitable. But the true cost is utter devastation of the user and his or her family.

What’s worse is that when someone is coming down from ice there is a psychosis that occurs. It can create a dangerous maniac out of even the most mild-mannered and temperate person. Normally unassuming people, of small builds, have been known to go into a violent rage and even throw police officers outweighing them by a considerable amount as if he were rag dolls. These people are typically taken to hospitals which are now the front line for ice treatment.

People who ultimately do get into ice rehab are often in the worst mental and physical condition of any drug addict. Ice addiction symptoms are both mental and physical. They are unstable, their brains fried by the drug, they are malnourished from never eating, their teeth have been eaten away by the drug, they have sores and open wounds everywhere on their bodies from accidents and scratching at the “bugs” they hallucinate are under their skin.

If you have a family member who is addicted to ice, this is not an addiction you can let go and hope for the best, hope that time will take care of it. The clock is ticking and the inevitable outcome is death.
