16 Dec When & Where to Detox When Coming to Lanna Rehab
Not everyone seeking treatment for addiction needs detox, but many do. Detoxification is a hugely important part of addiction treatment and, if you need it, it needs to be taken very seriously. This step, if done incorrectly or badly, can create a lot more than discomfort. It can result in death in some cases, depending on the drug of choice and how long and how much the drug has been abused. Long-term alcoholics in particular can go into cardiac arrest if detox isn’t done correctly.
Lanna Rehab is not a Chiang Mai detox, we are a residential treatment center. Many of our clients come from around the globe – Europe, Australia, New Zealand, the U.S., Asia, etc. So, there are really two options in terms of detox.
One answer is to detox where you are first, at a local detox center, or at least one in your country. We can help you find one. Since we are an international rehab we know many places around the world that do detox. You want a detox center that will have proper medical supervision, round-the-clock nursing staff, and will be equipped to make you as comfortable as possible. Detox can have a lot of unpleasant symptoms; nausea, sweats, sleeplessness, anxiety, depression, irritability, inability to focus, and more. It is a challenge for your body to purge all the toxins acquired from months or years of drug abuse. For these reasons the detox staff should be constantly checking on you and taking your vital signs at least every four hours. There are probably some very good detox centers near you and, as stated, we can help you find one. This does mean that you will likely be flying to us on an airplane that serves liquor, which can be very tempting at this stage. So, you may want to fly with a family member, or friend, or a sober companion, which is someone who understands treatment and is there to help keep you sober.
The other option is to detox in Chiang Mai Thailand. We feel detox is so important that we have a special arrangement with a hospital nearby. This means you are getting all the medical attention you could possibly need and you’re already in a place designed to handle emergencies, in the event something happens. This is an acute care facility, as opposed to most detox centers which are subacute. It means you’ll get more attention and there’s more medical staff on site. For these reasons we consider this the best detox center in Thailand, and the best option.
Once you finish detox and your mind is clearer we can get started on the actual residential program here at Lanna Rehab. Again, not everyone seeking treatment requires detox. So, you may not need it. We can help assess whether you do or not and, if you do, we can assist you in finding the detox situation that’s going to work best for you. So call us, let us help, that’s why we’re here. There is no judging, just help. When you call Lanna you get a member of our staff, not a salesperson. Our first goal is to help you no matter where you end up going.
