When we decided to create Lanna as a holistic rehab facility, it was an easy decision. It was based on our collective decades of experience creating addiction treatment programs in many other treatment centers, some of the best facilities in the world, and seeing the results. A holistic addiction treatment center simply offers more chance of success because you are treating the entire individual, mind, body and soul.
Part one is definitely the physical treatment, getting the individual detoxed from the drugs and onto a path of healing the body through good nutrition and exercise. Second, the psychological effects of addiction need to be addressed, especially if there is a trauma that’s been contributing to the addiction. This is done through a variety of therapies we offer as well as one-on-one sessions and group sessions with a therapist. We also have family sessions that are critical to finding understanding, forgiveness and restoring the love. But these two are not as independent as you might think. Restoring your physical wellbeing has a tremendous impact on your brain, your psyche and your desire to continue getting better and growing stronger.
When you add the third part, treating the soul, or the spirit, it just gets better. Does this mean a religious experience? It could, but not necessarily. It means different things to different people and we work with you to find which is best for you. It may mean just getting in touch with yourself. Turning inside and discovering, or rediscovering, the real you, letting that person out again who may have been somehow damaged or harmed earlier. It may mean forgiving yourself and others. It may mean meditation. It may mean you’re only starting out on a much larger search. It means finding purpose for your life, something so many people struggle with. What usually happens is, the answer is much simpler than most people think. Thailand, and Lanna, is a magical place in this respect. People find themselves here. They find a meaning and purpose to their lives. That, in itself, is miraculous.
The three – mind, body, soul – are interconnected. They work together and, when they do, miracles actually do happen. We see them all the time.
